The Virgin of Częstochowa is an icon of the Virgin Mary, considered Poland’s most venerated relic and a national symbol. According to tradition, the painting was created by Saint Luke, who depicted the Virgin Mary while she was still alive, on a table made by Saint Joseph.
The artwork, created in Ephesus, traveled through Jerusalem, was taken to Constantinople by Saint Helena, later to Russia, and finally, in 1384, arrived in Poland, where it has become a symbol of devotion and protection for the nation.
