Marilyn Monroe born Norma Jeane Mortenson and baptized as Norma Jeane Baker, was a film actress, singer. Over time, she became one of Hollywood's most famous actresses and one of the leading sex symbols of all time.
She began her career as a photographic model and from 1946 she began to play small roles in low-budget films. Her worldwide recognition began to develop after she starred in the musical Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) and appeared in the inaugural issue of Playboy magazine.
She played the lead role in the comedies How to Marry a Millionaire (1953), The Seven Year Itch (1955) and Bus Stop (1956), and thanks to the box-office success of these films, since then she began to be considered one of the most profitable actresses in the film industry. Her biggest commercial success was Some Like it Hot (1959), a film for which she won the Golden Globe for best actress in a comedy.
She was considered one of the most attractive women in the history of the seventh art, but her explosive beauty conditioned her artistically and emotionally, forcing her to project a seductive and superficial image that concealed her real personality, sensitive and unstable since childhood. She was married to baseball player Joe DiMaggio, in 1954, and then to playwright Arthur Miller, between 1956 and 1962.
Monroe died on August 5, 1962 from an overdose of barbiturates, in circumstances never clarified. The first hypothesis that the American justice system considered was that of suicide, but this could never be corroborated.
